The graphic design exhibition, “5+5 Graphic Design from Poznań and Shenzhen,” was organized in collaboration with several institutions – the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań and the hosting institution, Guan Shanyue Museum in Shenzhen. The event received support from partner festivals: Poznań Art Week and Fringe Festival Shenzhen.

The exhibition showcased the works of 10 artists, with 5 from each city. The presented works primarily comprised posters for cultural events. In addition to these, the exhibition also included the outcomes of several months of collaboration between artist pairs randomly matched: Agata Kulczyk – Huang Yang, Wojciech Janicki – Du Fengsong, Piotr Marzol – 1983ASIA, Marcin Markowski – Huang Yuefei, and Grzegorz Myćka – Liao Bofeng. Each pair created several poster works on a jointly chosen theme.

The exhibition’s opening, held on July 31, 2023, was enriched by the artists themselves, who participated in curator-led tours, along with the exhibition’s initiators, Mateusz Bieczyński and Eric Zhu, discussing their works before the gathered audience.

On the opening day, a public meeting in the form of a panel discussion also took place, during which attendees could ask questions about the presented works. This served as an excellent opportunity for intercultural exchange.

The exhibition also featured films and photographs showcasing both cities and the history of their cultural exchange. The collaborative project between the two cities, marking the 30th anniversary of their partnership agreement, was planned for three years, encompassing cultural exchange, exhibitions, and student exchange.
