Where do we run when we lose our sense of security and our world is collapsing? The exhibition Building a Garden Around a Burning House presents works that refer to the concept of shelter as a place, relationship, comfort or building a community. We want to show the social dimension of the aforementioned shelter, the difficulties in finding it, but also the consequences of its lack. The art presented at the exhibition speaks of strong and human emotions. The works combine tenderness and aggression, destruction and care, vitality and impermanence. They betray our intimate ideas about security and protection, and at the same time embody our fears and difficulties in finding them. They face reality, comment on it and stand up to it, expressing the need to seek shelter.
