“I want to create a situation where I invite you and let you see. And the very act of seeing will become the essence of your experience,” declares James Turell, manifesting the idea of his still unfinished magnum opus, the grand Roden Crater observatory in the heart of the Northern Arizona desert.

Anna Marczak-Gut also offers us vision exercises. On a smaller scale, but equally fundamental. The artist undertakes a thorough, systematic observation of the surrounding reality. The flowing variability of light and color is captured in a painting frame. Subtle, but pulsating with color, the canvas is an affirmation of mindfulness and a creative gesture.

The exhibition “In light we trust” is a journey through the daily cycle and the journey of light. It leads through the pastel, blurred hours of dawn, the sun towering over the zenith and bringing out the fullness of colors from the surroundings, through the magical aura of the golden hour and deep, suede dusk. Each moment captured in a painting frame has its own depth and temperature, it is an invitation to observe.

Anna Marczak-Gut’s painting is subtle, soothing and giving respite. These are images for immersion, for meditation. Light is life. It pulsates in the tissues of plants and animals, sets matter and ideas in motion.
