The vernissage will take place on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 19:00 at the MOLSKI gallery&collection in Poznań.

This exhibition is a truly cross-generational meeting, showing in a very clear way that similar issues can preoccupy artists from different generations and backgrounds. One could say that it is really a meeting outside of time, outside of the linear order of art.

Andrzej Gieraga, an artist born in 1934, creating and learning in the circle of constructivism in Łódź, and Urszula Madera, born in 1995, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław; in the language of geometric abstraction seeking an answer to the question – what is art?

Although the age difference between these two artists is more than fifty years, their works contain common elements that enter into a coherent, intriguing dialogue. Gieraga and Madeira are primarily characterized by the use of the same means of artistic expression as: light, color and geometry. Geometry, which in this case allows them to subtly cross the borders of painting and turn towards spatiality and three-dimensionality, which is materialized in relief compositions.

It must be admitted that such artistic meetings are not common at all. Fashions and aesthetics change, but at the same time it happens that someone is connected to someone else, a code of values other than age, which are of course transitory, but at the same time they can be shared.

One should look for changeability, unless unexpectedly such a commonality appears that cancels out age, differences in experience and generational or academic code, not to mention the aesthetic one. These are coincidences, these are commonalities, and completely unintentional.
