The exhibition “Grzegorz Marszałek. I love chance and I use it’, organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the creative work of the outstanding graphic artist, illustrator, draftsman and poster artist from Poznań, it presents posters, illustrations and drawings by the artist. Selected works from the extensive artistic oeuvre, comprising several thousand works, will be presented. The selection of works includes 54 outstanding posters as well as numerous sketches, magazine cover designs, drawn portraits, illustrations, including drawings made for Playboy, as well as author’s notes and comments on social reality. Many of them are characterized by situational humor at the highest level.

Grzegorz Marszałek’s retrospective exhibition is accompanied by the premiere of a monographic book dedicated to him under the expanded title “Grzegorz Marszałek, Graphics, Illustrations and other scribbles. I love chance and I use it” edited by Mateusz Bieczyński, professor at the University of Arts in Magdalena Abakanowicz in Poznań, with an introduction by Zdzisław Schubert, a long-term curator of the Poster Gallery of the National Museum in Poznań. The 904-page volume contains several thousand of the artist’s works – posters, illustrations, drawings, sketches and verbal and visual comments from the pages of numerous notebooks – which are the most representative examples of his expressive artistic style, which is an unusual combination of expressive lines with an intense color palette of various painterly effects. In addition, the exhibition will also present posters dedicated to the Marshal and made by his friends, Polish and foreign poster artists.
