Magiel – The Gallery of Modern Art in Wielichowo cordially invites for the individual exhibition of works by  Szymon Zwoliński  – The Potential of Evil in Beauty – /sculpture_object_hologramme/.  The opening of the exhibition will be held ON_LINE  on 30 May /Saturday/  2020, at 17.00.

The exhibition will feature selected works by Szymon Zwoliński that he has created in recent years. The works represent  fields like sculpture and artistic object.   Most of the exhibits were created  as a part of Zwoliński’s 2019 PhD dissertation Re/interpretations of Evil on the Example of Works by Selected Artists and Personal Experience created under the supervision of prof. dr. hab. Karolina Komasa. 

Zwoliński’s works will be physically exhibited at Galeria Magiel, but will also be presented ON_LINE.  Virtual curatorial meetings will be held to familiarize the audience with the theme of the exhibition and Zwoliński’s artistic attitude. The exhibition is an accompanying event of this year’s edition of POZNAN ART. WEEK 2020 – REMEDY.

Dawid Szafrański – Curator of the exhibition

Szymon Zwoliński was born in Toruń in 1981. After graduating high school, he travelled a lot to find a place for himself. Between 2005 and 2011 he studied at the Faculty of Sculpture and Spatial Activities of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań.  Since 2010, he has been a member of teaching staff  of his alma mater, that has been renamed  University of the Arts Poznan. Zwoliński creates sculptures hat are a mixture of the traditional and innovative approach. He continues to experiment with forms and technology.  His artistic ventures create surprising visual effects.  He like to introduce narrative elements into his works. They are mostly inspired by popular culture.  In 2019, he defended his PhD dissertation at the Faculty of Sculpture of the University of the Arts Poznan.
