One of the objects that Ingmar Bergman recalls in his memoirs is a magic lantern – a simple optical device used to display slides. It was the first tool for him, thanks to which he moved into a different reality, into an imaginary world, non-existent or supposedly existing, which at the same time was a present reality with a special reality. The magic lantern is here a vehicle of escape from the decidedly unpleasant experiences of everyday life, enabling insight into one’s own thoughts, feelings and dreams. It is a device that allows you to create a fictional reality.

In common experience, fiction is treated as a synonym for unproductiveness, action devoid of purpose and sense. One of the areas where fiction has a special status, however, is art, which formulates its boundaries in very different ways towards what we call the real world or the real world. These borders seem to be something particularly interesting, defining the relationship between fabrication and reality, relativizing the elements of “truth” and imagination. Boundaries clearly separated and those that cannot be clearly indicated, open, closed, thick, thin or transparent, defined by conventions or exceeding them.

The axis of our joint presentation is precisely the notion of fiction, which is realized in specific types of games, rituals, processes, playing with banality, symbols and history, collecting and transforming or inventing objects, giving them meanings or merely evoking their presence.
